Cahokia beaker. This is the only jar of this kind found at Cahokia. Found east of Monk's Mound with a presumed date between 1050 and 1150, it may have some stylistic affinity with a shell cup from Spiro in Oklahoma. Cahokia Museum.
Animal effigy rimmed bowls are found in Mississippian period sites from Arkansas to Georgia. This bowl from the Cahokia area represents a crested wood duck. The head is hollow and filled with pebbles to produce a rattle effect. Cahokia Museum.
