The Fourth Circle: The Community

POWWOW ROYALTY

Chicago's Native American princesses are ambassadors who travel across tile country to other powwows, representing their tribes) and community. Princesses are elected annually by community consensus.

They are given sashes that bear their name and their organization's name, as well as a beautifully beaded crown to exhibit their royalty. In Chicago, the American Indian Center sponsors three princesses; Little Miss Indian Chicago, Junior Miss Indian Chicago, and Miss Indian Chicago.
