the Illinois and dreaded Iroquois,

western empire of French and Indians,
Where Tonti and his band of Frenchmen, loyal
to La Salle, were besieged four days,
Where hungry, thirsty Indians were mercilessly
tomahawked in narrow canyons,
Where treasure-hunters, sought for Tonti's
gold,
