Male mortuary figure. This was found with a female figure in Mound C at Etowah. It is made of painted Georgia marble. Sculptured stone figures in burials are more characteristic of Tennessee than they are of Georgia.

Male mortuary figure. About two feet high. Rear. Note the hair bun, possibly a hairstyle which indicated status. Also note the fairly realistic modeling of the back.

Female mortuary figure. Found with male figure. It has been suggested that these two statues represent the individuals with whom they were buried.

The Etowah River. There is evidence that the people of Etowah built a fish trap in the river.
