Lecture Notes

Biological males are expected to act out masculine gender roles, and biological females are expected to act out feminine gender roles. Gender role stereotype is the rigidly held oversimplified beliefs about how each gender should behave. Gender role stereotypes tend to be false or misleading for individuals of the group and the group as a whole. They are statistically valid generalizations that do not predict facts.

Gender role attitude is the belief one has for self and others on what's appropriate for male or female traits and activities. Gender role behavior is the actual activities or behaviors a person engages in as a female or male. And gender presentation is what is perceived by others through one's bodily habits or personality.
