Vaginal infections, or vaginitis, affect 3 out of 4 women at least once in their lives. These infections are often, though not always, sexually transmitted. They may also be induced by an upset in the normal balance of vaginal organisms by such things as stress, birth control pills, antibiotics, nylon panty hose, and douching.
