There are also racial and ethnic disparities when it comes to STI infections. STIs are higher among racial and ethnic minorities and markers that correlate with basic determinants of health and social factors are correlated with STI infections. For example, they are more likely to be in poverty and lack access to healthcare and/or quality healthcare. They also have less healthcare seeking behaviors, and illegal drug use can also be an influence.
